Langhe Nebbiolo can sometimes be viewed as simply an introductory wine to the region; however, you will discover that the style and focus that we put on this wine makes it much closer to our Barolos than just an everyday-drinking wine.

The grapes used for this wine come from the vineyards Madonna di Como in Alba, the heart of the truest Langa. These vines sit on a hill that is just in between the areas of Barolo and Barbaresco, with altitudes 280-330 meters above sea level.

2018 was quite a traditional vintage and one where this wine showcases the classic characteristics of Nebbiolo from the Langhe. After the difficulties of 2017, 2018 was a blessing in both exceptional quality and quantity. The growing season started with a very wet winter, restoring the soil’s very diminished water supply. The cooler temperatures leading into spring led to a gradual beginning to bud break and a slow start to the vegetative cycle. Flowering and berry set were quite normal and uneventful, which was a welcome change for our vineyard team. The Nebbiolo clusters from across our vineyards were allowed to ripen evenly and maintain both concentration and freshness. Harvest was a particularly successful one in 2018 as no weather events forced our hand in picking, which gave us the opportunity to harvest at the most optimal time. Overall, 2018 was a fantastic vintage and one where we cannot wait to share our Barolo wines. In the meantime, you can see a preview of the vintage through this bright, youthful Langhe Nebbiolo.

We consider this 100% Nebbiolo like the younger sibling Barolo that gives a preview of how our Barolos of that vintage will express in the future. Fermentation is carried out very slowly, at low temperatures for 15 days, followed by a soft pressing and aging in large Slavonian oak casks for 10 months. The wine is then bottled and released months later at the optimal drinking time. This traditional process allows the maintenance of the freshness, fruit and spice notes of an easy-to-drink and fragrant wine, unique and elegant to the Langhe region.
The 2018 vintage is yet to be reviewed. Please find the latest review from the 2016 vintage.

Press Notes:

91 Points, James Suckling: “The aromas of orange blossoms, berries and rose petals are very attractive. Medium body, lovely fruit and a tangy, citrusy aftertaste. Beautiful fruit and savoriness now."
