This rare 100% Garganega is somewhat of a ‘riserva’ for our winery, only produced in the best vintages and made from several of our cru sites across Soave Classico, with an average vine age from 30-60 years.
Once in the winery, the grapes are pressed and the juice goes directly into an old 30hl Allier French oak cask for 18 months. We then bottle and let the wine rest in our cellars for several years before release, allowing the wine to fully integrate. Colle Sant’Antonio is definitely the richest of our Soaves, expressing a unique version of Garganega that shows a full profile of yellow fruits, tropical notes, apricot, and the classic almond notes of Soave Classico. The label, as you see, shows the small church of Sant’Antonio, located on the top of the hill in Monteforte, right in front of our winery. Only 187 cases of this wine were produced. This is also the first time that magnums have been offered to the U.S. market, exclusively for our mailing list
Colle Sant’Antonio is a truly special wine from the Soave region. More concentrated and expressive than most wines from the area, it is a wine that not only showcases the freshness and richness of Soave but also its potential to improve and gain complexity with aging. This is a wine that shows that Soave belongs in the conversation as one of the top white wines in the world.
- Our 2016 vintage has yet to be reviewed, but these comments by James Suckling highlight the style of our wine quite well - “93 Points - This is a rich and flavorful Soave with plenty of dried-pineapple and mango aromas and flavors. Just the right amount of bitter lemon. Underlying flowers and stones. Drink or hold.”
