With vineyards up to 3,000 feet, the Nerello Cappuccio destined for Laeneo produce ripe red-fruited grapes whose bright and playful character Fessina preserves through cold soaking of the berries before a short 5-7 day maceration in stainless steel tanks. The resulting wine is a rich ruby red with bright notes of plum, sour cherry, and pepper; slightly reduced upon opening, it's a young, fresh wine that's delicious with a chill.
Grape varieties: 100% Nerello Cappuccio
Ian D'Agata on the 2015 vintage, 93 points: "Dark red. Very perfumed hints of blood orange and strawberry on the nose and palate, complicated by hints of botanical herbs and flint. Long, savory and blessed with sneaky concentration without too much alcohol (only 12.5%), this is another knockout, bright and juicy but multilayered Laeneo from Fessina."
