What does GG mean? The Grosses Gewächs (“great growth”) designation is used only for the finest dry wine from a VDP Grosse Lage (“grand cru”) classified vineyard. GG wines express the unique character of the vineyard and, being full-bodied dry wines, have great versatility with food.
Our "grand cru" VDP Grosse Lage vineyard Gräfenberg vineyard sits in the village of Kiedrich, known for its steep, rocky soils that add incredible complexity and minerality to the wine. This dry offering from the very ripe 2018 vintage gives a full, very round texture in harmony with aromas of bright citrus. Additional layers are added to the wine with the traditional fermentation and maturation of the wine in large, neutral oak casks. These combined notes lend to a balanced palate of flinty minerality, beautiful fruit and lingering baking spices.
The 2018 vintage is yet to be reviewed; however the 2017 vintage of this wine received 95 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
