As you may recall, the Grosses Gewächs ("GG") designation is reserved for the finest dry Rieslings from the very best vineyard parcels in Germany, classified “Grosse Lage”– our equivalent of Burgundy's “Grand Cru.” Only wines from these top-rated sites are bottled with a single-vineyard designation. All of these wines are also classified as Alte Reben, meaning “old vines". The commonly accepted age for Alte Reben in the Mosel starts from 25-35 years old, however we only use that designation on vines aged 75 years or more.

The Sundial of Wehlen – This precipitously steep and rocky vineyard yields some of the most elegant and sophisticated white wines in the world. The classic blue slate soil gives the wine a delicate, crisp acidity that perfectly balances the pure peach and lemon fruit. It’s a charming wine that dances gracefully on the palate.

Press Notes:

91-94 points, Mosel Fine Wines: "Offers an elegant and quite refined nose of tangerine, candied grapefruit, floral elements, apricot blossom, almond cream, and a hint of smoke. A touch of cream and toffee underlines the fruity side of the wine on the palate. In complement, zesty flavors bring some freshness to the superb finish. This dry Riesling has quite some upside, especially if the fresher side takes over at maturity."
