To fully appreciate our Nascetta, you must understand its history. The grape is native to northern Italy’s Langhe region and dates back to the 1800s. This semi-aromatic grape was historically used for blending and was often compared to the great wines of the Rhein. It was nearly lost completely when producers began removing and replanting it with the more profitable varieties of Barbera and Nebbiolo. In the 1990s, a group of producers joined together to give it a rebirth. Today only 30 producers make Nascetta.

Rivetto entered the scene in the early 2000s. We wanted to produce a white wine, and sought something that was part of our heritage, so we selected Nascetta.

Our first vine was planted in 2007 and our initial bottling took place in 2009. Our vineyards are north facing, which ensures the right amount of acidity, minerality, and freshness, particularly important in the warm 2015 vintage. Our Nascetta Borea is released two years after vintage after aging in a cement tank for one year. It is continually stirred on its lees for at least 18 months, developing refinement and freshness. That, mixed with its natural acidity, give it excellent aging potential, which is why we do a magnum bottling,

Don’t be scared to let the wine sit in your cellar for a while. It promises great development over time.

Press Notes:

The wine gives a fruity nose with exotic notes and honey accent at the end. On the palate you taste fresh, minerality with a lively acidity that gives it its longevity.
