This Riesling was first created in the 1960s as an homage to Frédéric Emile Trimbach, who led our family into a new era of production by moving our winery to its current home in Ribeauvillé in 1952. Sourced from the Geisberg and Osterberg Grand Cru vineyards, the Riesling vines for this cuvée are between 45-60 years old, planted on stony clay soils. Grapes are handpicked as late as possible in order to achieve maximum ripeness, leading to an optimum depth of flavors and complexity. The wine is fermented in steel and concrete tanks to complete dryness with no residual sugar before being bottled. The wine rests in the cellar for several years before release, ensuring the wine is both ready to drink immediately and can be cellared for 10 years or more.

The 2011 vintage was characterized by very warm, sunny weather, which led to grapes being picked from both Grand Cru sites at full ripeness. 2011 has an intensity of fruit that makes this one of our favorite vintages in years and released at the optimal time for your enjoyment. The warmth of the vintage made for an early growing season, leading to a hot summer that ripened the grapes evenly with great concentration. As we work these vineyards organically and by hand, our focus on the very best clusters for this cuvée resulted in an incredibly fresh, powerful vintage of our flagship wine.

Press Notes:

94 Points, James Suckling: “For a seven-year-old dry white, this has great vitality. The more air it gets, the more candied-citrus, pear and dried-herb aromas emerge. Although the wine's frame is on the sleek side, there's serious concentration. The finish is very long with a cascade of herbal and mineral notes. Drink or hold."
